Classic Packs, Reimagined
At Knoword, we’re always working to make sure our packs are accurate, engaging, and most of all, fun. Last week, we gave some of our most popular packs a refresh for this winter season. Read on to hear about everything we changed.
Seasonal words for every skill level
Our Winter Holiday Words pack has always been a fun way to add some seasonal cheer to vocabulary practice this time of year. It originally featured 100 holiday-themed words, ranging from familiar terms like “Christmas” and “icicle” to more challenging ones like “kinara” and “wassail.”
While we thought the quantity and variety of words was great, we realized that splitting the pack into two would make it even better. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new beginner and intermediate holiday word packs:
- 🔥 Warm Welcome: Cozy, familiar words that capture the spirit of the season
- 🧊 Brain Freeze: A challenging set of more advanced holiday terms
We also revamped all of the clues. The old definitions were straight from the dictionary, which sometimes meant they included complicated or overly formal language. Now, the clues are fun, festive, and fit for players of all ages.
Capital Cities: updated and improved
We recently received helpful feedback from a Knoword player about some outdated and inaccurate clues in our Capital Cities: Europe pack. For instance, one clue mistakenly claimed a city was the most populous in its country—something that hasn’t been true for a long time.
It turns out, relying on dictionary definitions for clues wasn’t cutting it here either. So, we rebuilt all of our Capital Cities packs from scratch, ensuring every city and country is accurately represented with fresh, fun facts. Now each clue tells you:
- The country the city is the capital of
- A cool fact or unique detail about the city
We also split the old “The Americas & Oceania” pack into three dedicated packs:
Grouping these continents together never really made sense. When we originally did it, we were trying to hit a certain bar for number of words in a pack, but we realize now that the number of words isn’t as important as making the packs more focused. Now, if you’re eager to master Oceanic capital cities, you won’t have to sift through North and South America to do it—and vice versa!
All of these revamped packs are live and ready to play—why not give them a try and see how you stack up? Better yet, share the fun with friends and family this holiday season. After all, it’s the perfect time to connect, laugh, and learn together through a little holiday-themed wordplay.
